Why Struggle?
The ElbowLOC® Arm Positioning System
The ElbowLOC® Arm Positioning System is a surgeon-designed upper extremity positioning device specifically for surgery from the humerus to the hand in one self-contained sterile system. It’s easy to assemble, intuitive to use, incredibly functional, and durable.
The surgeon has the choice of supine, lateral, or supine suspended positioning for arm and elbow surgery as well as a traction tower system for wrist and hand arthroscopy and fracture work.
Arthroscopy of the elbow and wrist
Peri-articular fractures about the elbow and wrist
Distal humerus fractures
Instability procedures of the elbow and wrist
Ulna fractures- proximal, diaphyseal, and distal
Total elbow arthroplasty
Ulnar nerve surgery
Triceps repairs and Olecranon bursa excisions
And many more…

ECONOMIC VALUE
Increased Facility Capacity and Potential Cost Savings
Multiple assistants are typically required to stabilize the humerus and forearm for each supine elbow surgical procedure. Even with this additional manpower, a constantly drifting surgical field often prolongs and complicates these cases.
Lateral decubitus or even prone patient positioning may be utilized to help stabilize the humerus for elbow surgery. Unfortunately, there is significant time and effort required to position a patient in this manner. This type of patient positioning also frequently limits elbow access for the surgeon, and may be less desirable than supine positioning for anesthesia and patient airway access.
Facility Profile
Analysis of one facility’s operating room time savings when using the ElbowLOC® Arm Positioning System demonstrates the economic value of this device.
Ambulatory Surgery Center - Southeast United States Location
This particular facility performs an average of 550 orthopaedic procedures per month. The analysis involves actual operating expenses and profits for the facility including salary cost per OR minute and is based on a 40 hour work week with 80% utilization. The average procedural time for the facility is 70 minutes. The time savings generated from use of the ElbowLOC® allows 6 additional cases to be performed each month within those same time constraints. The analysis assumes the same profitability of the facility’s average procedure. [2]

Time savings that one surgeon and one facility experienced with use of the ElbowLOC® Arm Positioning System for supine patient positioning when compared to their experience with lateral patient positioning.

Increased annual revenue a facility can experience when utilizing the ElbowLOC® and supine patient positioning for elbow surgery versus lateral patient positioning without the ElbowLOC®.

Positioning time is defined as “Time in Room” to “Procedure Start Time” plus “Procedure End Time” to “Time Out of Room”. One surgeon/ one facility. N Supine = 30. N Lateral = 24.
